Picture this...
The moment the doors open and you see your spouse-to-be standing there with glistening eyes and a beaming smile. The moment you step onto the dancefloor for your very first dance as a married couple. The moment all your family and friends surround you for the last dance of the night, celebrating the beginning of this incredible new chapter with you.
What frames these unforgettable moments? The music! Whilst you go through this amazing journey of wedding planning, you’ll begin to realise there are lots of fun and new decisions to be made regarding the music across your special day.
This is part one of our four part guide where we give you all the information you need to make decisions about the music and entertainment you want for your special day. We truly want to help you find the perfect fit for you and your wedding and make sure that you have the music you like, played by a band you love and trust.
Here are the first few steps we recommend when booking live music for your wedding:
Determine Your Price Range
Before you start looking for a wedding band, establish a price range for your entertainment. There are lots of different aspects to a wedding you need to budget for, so it is important to try to establish how much you want to spend on the entertainment. There are options for pretty much all budgets imaginable so this will help you narrow them down. Once you have determined a price range, you can begin the hunt. Here at Supertonic, we display our prices directly on our website to make sure we don’t waste your time if you are looking for entertainment within a different budget. We believe in keeping all things cost-related as transparent as possible.
Start Early
Begin your search for a wedding band well in advance of your special day as popular bands can get booked up quickly, especially on popular wedding dates. We recommend trying to book your band about a year in advance, so beginning your search roughly 18 months before the big day normally means you'll be able to get the band you want.
Define Your Musical Preferences
Your personal music taste probably seems like an obvious thing to know, however this is often neglected when people are searching for a band. Deciding on the style of music you want for your wedding is crucial as you not only have to consider your own personal tastes, but also what will appeal to your guests. You may know which genres of music you might like at a wedding; whether it is rock, folk, jazz or Supertonic’s specialty of disco, funk and soul, wedding bands will clearly outline what sort of music they perform. A great way to see if a band is going to play the sort of music you’re looking for is to watch their promo videos or get in touch to request a recent set list.
Now that you have these first big three steps out of the way, you have some idea about wedding music! You can therefore now move on to focusing on shortlisting bands, and reviewing recommendations. Check out Part 2 in this series for the next stage in booking your perfect wedding band.
